Pedro Duarte de Almeida

Pedro Duarte de Almeida (b. 1974) holds a degree in Communication Design from FBAUL (1997). He completed his PhD in Fine Arts, specializing in Communication Design, at FBAUL (2017). His doctoral thesis addresses the possibilities that arise from the intersection between Information Visualization and Design Activism, identifying an emerging field resulting from the convergence of these two areas of design. He is an assistant professor in the Communication Design department at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and coordinated the master's program in Communication Design between 2018 and 2022. He is currently the coordinator of the PhD program in Fine Arts/Communication Design. He is a researcher at CIEBA (Center for Research and Studies in Fine Arts) and his research focuses on Information Design and Data/Information Visualization, with a special interest in the connection between these design practices, political activism, and public interest communication.
