António Quadros Ferreira
António Quadros Ferreira was born in Aveiro (1950). He graduated in Painting (1971) from the Superior School of Fine Arts of Porto. He received the DEA, Diplôme d'Études Approfondies (1980) and PhD (1990) by the Center du XXème Siècle of the Université de Sophia Antipolis in Nice, France, research led by Professor Michel Sanouillet (President of the International Association for the Study of Dada and Surrealism). The doctoral research had as subject "Les Relations Artistiques entre la France et le Portugal (1910-1930) – Réception de la Modernité chez Almada". Fellow of the following institutions: Ministry of National Education, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, National Institute for Scientific Research (INIC), Spanish Government, Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and Erasmus. He participated actively in the process of integrating ESBAP at the University of Porto. He performed Aggregation tests at FBAUP (1999), with the synthesis lesson "Painting Act. Problem of the whole. Invention of the order? " Professor at ESBAP and FBAUP since 1978. Full Professor at FBAUP (2007). He was president of the Pedagogical and Scientific Councils and Director of FBAUP. Director of masters, namely the Master of Painting, and director of the doctorate in Art and Design of the FBAUP. Member of the doctoral program “La realidad asediada: posicionamientos creativos”, University of Barcelona (2013). Professor Emeritus of FBAUP (2014). Coordinator of research projects, namely the BCIP project, "Bases Conceptuais da Investigação em Pintura" (2014-2019). Academic Correspondent of ANBA, National Academy of Fine Arts (2017). President of CAE, A3ES External Evaluation Committee of Fine Arts / Visual Arts (since 2009). Member of i2ADS, CIEBA, and SCUCP. As an artist, she conducts exhibitions, and as a researcher studies issues related to artistic research, the relationships between thinking and doing (“Fazer Falar a Pintura”, “Pensar o Fazer da Pintura”), specific research methodologies in painting, artistic teaching in the context of an art school, and the theory and history of painting. Specialist researcher, namely in authors (Almada Negreiros, and Nadir Afonso), and contexts (Grupo "Os Independentes", and "Escola do Porto").
